Meet your local host

Creator of Philippine island escapes, based in Manille

The Philippines invite you to slow down. Between the islands, the ocean and the encounters, you often find a simplicity and lightness that you easily forget elsewhere.

Jean-Luc

Based in Manila, Jean-Luc guides travelers to discover the Philippines with a vision of travel centered on nature, reclaimed time, and human experiences. Through Destination Philippines, a Franco-Philippine agency, he designs personalized itineraries to showcase the exceptional diversity of the archipelago, away from standardized travel. What he particularly loves about the Philippines is the country's natural ability to slow things down: preserved islands, coastal villages, simple encounters, local traditions, and the ever-present relationship with the sea and nature. Jean-Luc favors balanced trips, suited equally to couples, families, and travelers seeking gentle adventure or digital detox. Very attentive to the quality of experiences offered, he advocates for more responsible tourism and closer connections to local realities, with the goal of creating lasting memories rather than a simple succession of stops.

Everything you need to know about Philippines

Our local experts share their knowledge to prepare your trip.

When to visit the Philippines?

The archipelago is best explored between December and May, during the dry season. January to March offer the best conditions for sailing between Palawan, Bohol and the Visayas: crystal-clear waters, clear skies, temperatures around 28°C. April and May, warmer months, suit diving enthusiasts and beach lovers alike. The rainy season, from June to October, doesn't rule out a trip to the Philippines: northern Luzon remains accessible and the Banaue rice terraces are at their best. It's best to avoid typhoon season (August-September) on the east coast. For a multi-island circuit in the Philippines, February remains our preferred window.

What budget should I plan for a trip to the Philippines?

The Philippines remain one of Southeast Asia's most accessible destinations, but your budget largely depends on how many islands you plan to visit. Domestic flights and bangka transfers quickly add up: a Manila–Palawan–Cebu itinerary alone can run several hundred euros. Plan for an average of €100 to €150 per person per day for a comfortable trip, with boutique hotel accommodation, meals, guides, and private transfers included. Diving enthusiasts heading to Tubbataha or those booking private cruises in Bacuit will spend more. Conversely, staying in a casa in Siquijor or exploring the Batanes with a local guesthouse keeps costs down significantly, without compromising on authenticity.

Why organize your trip with a local agency in the Philippines?

With over 7,600 islands, the Philippines demand precision logistics: ferry schedules that change at the last minute, domestic flights regularly cancelled during the wet season, exclusive lodges that can't be booked online. Our English-speaking local agency, based in Manila, knows the bangka captains of Coron, the Ifugao guides of the Cordillera, and the host families of Siargao. We adjust itineraries to your pace, recalibrate a route when a typhoon approaches, slip a meeting with a fisherman from Romblon or a weaving workshop in Mindanao into your programme. This human network makes all the difference between a generic circuit and a trip that truly fits the terrain.

What to see on a circuit in the Philippines?

A first trip to the Philippines often revolves around three major highlights. In the north, Luzon unfolds with Unesco-listed rice terraces at Banaue and Batad, the colonial calm of Vigan, and the volcanoes of Bicol. In the center, the Visayas concentrate the classics: tarsiers and Chocolate Hills in Bohol, white-sand beaches at Boracay or Bantayan, diving with sardines at Moalboal. To the west, Palawan remains the crown jewel, between the turquoise lagoons of El Nido, the underground river of Puerto Princesa, and the wild bay of Coron. For a slower-paced stay, head to Siquijor and its healers, Siargao for surfing, or the Batanes islands swept by trade winds, far removed from postcard images.
