History

Clark is home to traces of the indigenous Negrito tribes. The region was once covered in balacat forests, which gave its name to Mabalacat. Under Spanish rule, it served as a strategic military outpost. In the 20th century, American forces established a military base here, developing infrastructure and urbanization throughout the region. After the Americans' departure in the 1990s, Clark was converted into a special economic zone, with modern buildings and facilities that bear witness to each chapter of its history.
